You cannot fail to fall for the charm of this stunningly beautiful farmhouse dating from the 18th century, situated at the edge of the forest of Perseigne in a quiet village setting, surrounded by acres of private, enclosed gardens.Near Alençon and Le Mans, on the border of Normandy and Pays de Loire, this is a region full of character with an abundance of architectural and natural riches to explore.The house is in a quiet setting surrounded by wooded and planted gardens on the fringes of the Forest of Perseigne. We have three en-suite guest rooms with a three star Gîtes de France rating.The village shops are within a couple of minutes walk (restaurant/ bar, grocer/ tobacconist/ newsagent, bakery, hairdresser, garage).10 minutes from the A28 motorway and Alençon and perfectly located for exploring the Alpes Mancelles, Lower Normandy, the Perche park and the Loire. Le Mans is half an hour away, Rouen an hour, Caen an hour and a half.A wooded fishing lake, tennis courts, boules, mountain bike rental and walking routes are on hand. Close to Ancinnes there are riding stables, golf, treetop adventure walks, canoe-kayak, rock climbing, medieval towns and villages, chateaux and gardens. We have compiled a series of day trips and itineraries on our website to help you discover a few of these sights.Access:From Alençon, or the A28 Exit 19, follow the road to St Paterne then the D19 to Ancinnes. Journey time approx. 10 minutes (8km).


Description of Interior

The three guest rooms are situated on the first (upper) floor, very comfortably furnished, tastefully and individually decorated, with adjoining private bathrooms. Each bedroom has original exposed beams and views over the surrounding countryside and garden. A comfortably furnished and well equipped guest sitting room with library and tourist information is at your disposal during your stay. Wi-Fi Internet throughout the house.


Garden and Exterior

With its extensive grounds and large wildfowl pond, La Basse Cour is not simply a luxury guest house but also an LPO Bird Refuge (League for the Protection of Birds). We practice organic gardening without chemicals, with areas managed to encourage bees, beetles, toads and hedgehogs. Our native hedges and our mixed woodland shelter and feed birds and we have installed nesting boxes for bats that feast on insects at twilight. Our pond is home to ducks, moorhens, grebes, frogs and dragonflies.
