Come and discover one of the most respected wine regions of France, in the heart of a countryside that has an abundance of unspoiled picturesque villages, mountain scenery and superb local food.

Everyone who comes to Chateau Colombier is amazed by the beauty of the surrounding area; and from there it only gets better! Our visitors say that the pictures don’t do justice to the size, the comfort, the great location, the views. The kitchen has everything you need for meals for 20 (and the cookbook classics for inspiration and enlightenment). The house is ideal for families, friends, and reunions, as well as retreats, activity holidays and workshops.Warm and cosy in winter (wood burning stoves and full central heating), the house is cool and calm in the heat of summer. The 2-metre thick walls and the shutters provide eco-friendly climate control.

 

Description of Interior

Rent by the week in the summer, or for shorter periods at other times. Additional bedrooms can be added to the Studio or the Top Floor Apartment if required.

WiFi access throughout the house, and well-stocked library, dvd selection, games, jigsaw puzzles and local maps and information are freely available to all guests.

The pool is shared by all house guests. As well as the walled pool garden, there is the terraced garden with its patios, arbours and permaculture vegetable and fruit garden.

Top floor Apatment (6-8 people)
For a holidays with friends and family, where you have the space to be together and to do your own things when you want to, the top floor of the house (125 square metres) is available to rent.Lavande is a large double bedroom with an additional single bed, and ensuite shower room with wcVerveine has 3 singles beds: two can be made up as an extra large king size bed if required. Also with ensuite shower with wc. The “chill out” room at the top of the tower, with its low ceiling and round walls, makes the perfect kid’s retreat (or for grown-up kids if they don’t mind the slightly restricted headroom). There is a full bathroom specially for those times when you want to lie back and unwind in a steamy bath. It’s great after biking, walking or skiing!The kitchen area has sink, fridge and cooking equipment. The enormous (65 square metre) communal room gives everyone all the space to spread out that you might want. It has a dining table, TV and DVD, computer, bed settee and easy chairs. Plus 2 double bed-settees with screens if required.

Family Suit (2-4 people)
For that special occasion, what could be better than staying in this spacious self-contained suite on the middle floor of the château? As well as the bedroom you have private use of a full bathroom, and a large salon complete with wood-burning stove. This suite enjoys shared use of the house’s spacious kitchen and dining room.An additional sofa bed can be added to the sitting room if required.

Not coming with a group? You can book one or more double or family rooms on a self-catering basis, with shared use of the house’s spacious kitchen and dining room.

Sudio Gîte
There is a ground studio which is also ideal for guests with reduced mobility. It has a double bed on a mezzanine, a full kitchen, sofa bed, and dining table. It adjoins the walled pool garden.Note that rooms can be added to either the Studio or the Top Floor Apartment.Bookings for rooms are available for a minimum stay of 2 nights.

 

Garden and Exterior

The swimming pool with jacuzzi in the walled garden has a motorised cover so it’s open April – October. Enjoy the sun or the shade under the veranda. The pool-area garden is landscaped with paths, paved areas, terraces and raised beds containing a wide collection of aromatic plants, climbing roses and leafy vines.The house is surrounded by lavender fields and fruit trees, and it’s just a couple of minutes stroll to the local river Eygues. This part of Provence has changed little for centuries. Life is slow and peaceful; it is a perfect place to unwind and re-evaluate the quality of your life.
