Local Area

Originally made famous in the Peter Mayle book 'A Year in Provence', the Luberon in Provence boasts spectacular countryside of vineyards and orchards and beautiful perched hill-top villages. With a market in a different village or town every day of the week, there is always somewhere to go to find fantastic local produce at a great price. Numerous trails for walkers of all ages and abilities, fantastic countryside for cyclists and it's romantic villages, dramatic ruins, deep gorges and pretty valleys the area really does have something for everyone!

We may be biased but we really do think that Provence has it all and is deservedly the most popular region in France for tourists and holidaymakers. Three of France's six national parks are in Provence and it also has five regional nature parks.

Look no further for cultural heritage - with a civilisation stretching back further than Northern France, Provence has one of the finest collections of roman remains anywhere in Europe. Try and find time to visit at least one of the World Heritage Sites - the Roman Amphitheatre in Arles, the Papal Palace and the famous bridge in Avignon, the Pont du Gard - stunning Roman Aquaduct near Avignon and the Roman theatre in Orange.

Come and explore and find your own favourite ... plenty of guide books, travel books and suggestions in our Guest Manual to help you plan your holiday.
