Summary

If you want a real Canarian experience, then come and stay in our pretty rural house on one level built from traditional stone dating approx from 1890 on the outskirts of the lovely old town of San Miguel in south Tenerife, 560 metres above sea level. The house, which sleeps a maximum of 3 people, is comfortably furnished in a rustic style with character wooden beamed ceilings and cool whitewashed walls. Its spacious layout offers 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 single), shower room, lounge/dining room and a separate fully equipped kitchen leading from a central hallway. It has all the home comforts you need.

Outside, our guests are able to enjoy their own enclosed private garden which is on 2 levels. The upper level has a table and 4 chairs with an umbrella plus a rustic style BBQ for alfresco dining and on the lower level are sun loungers and umbrella. There is also a plunge pool and hot tub for our guests’ sole use and the garden is south facing offering nice views to the sea, surrounding countryside and mountains. Guests have their own separate entrance so are able to come and go as they please. We're sure you'll especially enjoy the hot tub at night under the stars with a glass of something chilled by your side!

Nearest shops, banks, bakery, chemist, bars and restaurants are within walking distance in the village of San Miguel.

Car hire is recommended, although there is a bus route through the village and free parking is available nearby. Finquita Strelitzia is ideally situated for the coast, golf courses, countryside and mountains as the main TF-1 motorway is just a 10 minute drive away, with 15-20 minutes drive to beaches and Tenerife South airport.

Finquita Strelitzia is particularly suited to couples and is ideal for those seeking a relaxing holiday away from the tourist resorts as this is a quiet rural residential area. It's a perfect get-away-from-it-all honeymoon destination too. Chill out by the pool during the day and when the sun goes down, enjoy a romantic BBQ under the stars or take a stroll up to the village to sample traditional Canarian cuisine or tapas in the local restaurants, cafés and bars. End your day with a relaxing dip in the hot tub ...

If you enjoy nature and walking/hiking and cycling Finquita Strelitzia is especially of interest as there are excellent walking trails and cycling routes nearby. However, we also offer free wi-fi for guests who really can't switch off from the outside world!

Children not accepted as the house is not really child-friendly due to the fact that there are steps in the garden next to the pool and there is no safety barrier around the pool area. The tiles may also become slippery when wet.

Rental Conditions

PRICES ARE FOR THE PROPERTY PER WEEK IN EUROS BASED ON 2 ADULTS. PRICES FOR 3 GUESTS OR PRICES IN UK STERLING AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.

A 25% non-refundable deposit is payable at the time of reservation with the balance payable in cash on arrival. A 60 euro security deposit is also payable on arrival to cover any damage during your stay. This will be refunded on departure should everything be in order. Christmas & New Year rates are applicable from Friday 20 December 2019 to Thursday 2 January 2020 inclusive.

Minimum stay 7 nights unless agreed with owner. Durations of less than 7 nights may incur a small extra charge. Over 7 nights, duration flexible. Changeover day flexible, as is time of check in/departure, dependent on other guests.

LES PRIX SONT POUR LA PROPRIÉTÉ PAR SEMAINE DANS EUROS BASÉ SUR 2 ADULTES. LES PRIX DE 3 PERSONNES OU DES PRIX EN LIVRES SONT DISPONIBLES SUR DEMANDE.

Séjour minimum 7 nuits sauf accord avec le propriétaire. Durations de moins de 7 nuits entraînera un petit supplément. La journée de changement est flexible, aussi l'heure d'arrivée et départ.

Local Area

San Miguel is the nearest town & has most things you'll need - restaurants, bars and cafés, supermarket, bakery, butchers, banks, chemist etc. The closest restaurants are a 10 minute walk with shops etc 15-20 minutes walk away. Please note, this is a hilly area.

San Miguel offers some excellent reasonably priced restaurants serving mainly Canarian dishes - La Bodega, La Trebina, 4 Esquinas and El Portillo plus a nice Italian restaurant called Il Moca. There are also several cafes serving tapas & mostly Canarian food, although we can recommend a very nice Venezuelan bar/cafe serving authentic "arepas" (round flatbreads stuffed with various fillings, amongst which the delicious "Reina" - shredded chicken and avocado) and other Venezuelan specialities as well as a good Menu of the Day for 5€! If you really need that Sunday roast or English breakast, there's one British owned bar/cafe in the village too! There are a couple of other restaurants offering pizza etc to take away or for home delivery. All are within 25 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. We are always happy to recommend places to our guests.

There is also a sympathetically restored museum, La Casa de El Capitán, within 10 minutes walk which features artefacts from the age of the Guanches, the ancient inhabitants of Tenerife prior to the Spanish conquest. There are several historical points of interest in the area, including the La Hoya settlement, reached via an ancient royal road from just behind La Casita Blanca.

Walkers & cyclists will find that we are ideally placed for exploring Tenerife's varied countryside & natural beauty, the most famous being the Teide National Park with its spectacular volcanic scenery and pine forests. Walking routes information is available on request. Professional quality road bikes and mountain bikes are available to hire from our local cycle shop cum cafe in San Miguel 10 minutes walk away. They also offer guided day tours. Further information available.

Shops in San Miguel & surrounding towns do follow the Canarian tradition of siesta and are therefore closed in the afternoons, reopening around 4.30/5pm till about 8pm. Cafes remain open & the local chemist is open weekdays to 8pm & lunchtime on Saturdays. The supermarket in the main street is also open 7 days a week until 9.30 pm & has a wide variety of goods, including fresh meats, fruit & vegetables. There's also a butchers, bakery & a fruit & veg shop.

The nearby town of Valle San Lorenzo provides a good variety of shops & restaurants too. Beaches and the main tourist areas of Playa de las Americas & Los Cristianos are a 20 minute drive or 40 minutes by bus, though there are smaller local beaches around the more traditionally Spanish town of El Médano, 15 minutes drive & famous for its windsurfing & kitesurfing. If you're feeling energetic, there's also a small mountain, Montaña Roja, to climb! If you like fresh fish, soak up the local atmosphere in the small coastal village of Los Abrigos, a 15 minute drive away with several restaurants overlooking the harbour. Approximately 45 minutes drive will bring you to the national heritage site of Mount Teide volcano & the Teide National Park with its pine forests.

Reina Sofia, Tenerife South's airport, is only 15 minutes away by car. If you are coming from Los Rodeos, Tenerife North's airport, it will take you approximately 1 hour. Taxis are freely available at both airports if you are not hiring a car. Car hire is advisable & parking is available at the property. If you don't want to drive, we'll be happy to pick you up from Tenerife South airport. Santa Cruz ferry port is approximately an hour's drive if you're coming from one of the other islands.

Whilst you're here, why not take part in one of the fiestas where locals dressed in traditional costume hand out delicacies such as gofio & local wine from decorated floats, often followed by music & dancing in the church square. There are often also tapas routes on in various municipalities where you can get a tapa and a glass of wine for €2.50! Also worth a visit is the Castillo San Miguel in nearby Aldea Blanca for an evening of jousting & traditional medieval fayre, and Mirador de La Centinela, a local viewpoint which also has a restaurant with stunning views to the countryside, perfect for a long relaxing lunch or evening dinner; both are reachable by car in 5 minutes.
