Holidays in the Costa del Sol

325 days of sunshine, beautiful weather and coasts with fantastic, warm, clear water beaches. Welcome to the Costa del Sol

There is more than 150 km of white sand and clear waters ready for us to dive into and enjoy. The sea is always present in everyday life, you can smell it, you can touch it and it is fully part of the economic and social life and, of course, the gastronomy. However, the Costa del Sol is much more than the sea, we are on the quintessential Andalusian coast with vistas of white houses and colourful geraniums in their windows, and hospitable people that greet each other in every street, because here everybody knows everyone.

The Costa del Sol is a paradise for tourists and for all privileged people who live here year-round, with plenty of entertainment and sports.

Malaga - According to the residents, Malaga is the best city where you can live in Spain. It is certainly made up of many elements, shown by different cultures in their architecture such as the Alcazaba - the old Arab fortress that overlooks the city, the Roman amphitheatre and the Picasso Museum. Malaga is a comfortable and friendly city, bathed in the light and water of the Mediterranean and surrounded by the mountains of Malaga Natural Park since 1989. Today, Malaga is said to be one of the best Andalusian cities: its international airport receives flights from all over Europe, it is connected by land with the Mediterranean motorway, the AVE (Spain’s High Speed train) arrives at the central station Maria Zambrano and the port, one of the oldest in the Mediterranean sea, has been used for trading since the tenth century Ac. But we can continue on, we can take the car for a tour of the coast, a sunny day invites and we will see the Costa del Sol we are expecting.

Nerja - Competa - Frigiliana - We go through Nerja then climb to Frigiliana and Competa, the three villages boarded by Axarquia are discovered leaning over the Costa del Sol with steep narrow winding streets built by the Arabs, where small white houses seem to perch on top of each other. Nerja is known for its beaches close to the centre of the town and also for the Cueva de Nerja which has cave paintings inside – You can find holiday villas and apartments to let in Nerja, Frigiliana and Competa -

Torremolinos - Benalmadena - Fuengirola - Then on to Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola, three towns known for their great tourist attraction but still keeping the essence of the white houses which the area is known for and cobbled streets. They are connected by a pedestrian path which winds its way along the coast for over 40 miles. – Look for holiday apartments and villas to rent in Fuengirola and Benalmadena -

Mijas - We carry on to Mijas, a white village of a Moorish layout with tourism being an important source of revenue. The village extends along the hillside forming a nice balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. From the “manzanilla wine” to the “pescaito frito”

The traditional cuisine of the Costa del Sol stands out for the variety of local products, although very simple in its ingredients, it is rich in the variety of dishes: “ajo colorao”, prepared with minced cod and olive oil, “boquerón victoriano” (anchovy), “almejas malagueñas” (clams) and “coquinas” (little clams) are some of the culinary gems. However, the dish which is famous is undoubtedly “pescaito frito” (little fried fish), accompanied by a good “manzanilla” (dry white Sherry)

From horse riding to golf

Besides beaches, the Costa del Sol offers endless possibilities for leisure throughout the year. We are in the area of Europe with the greatest supply of golf courses, more than sixty. As is the case of La Duquesa Golf Course located a few meters from the beach, a luxury difficult to repeat. The School of Equestrian Art Costa del Sol ("Escuela de Arte Ecuestre Costa del Sol") is one of the most remarkable and renowned equestrian centres of Spain, located in a beautiful natural setting between the Bermeja Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. You can also enjoy all year-round aquatic sports based in any of the marinas that are scattered along the Costa del Sol.
